Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know for a smooth, comfortable waxing experience, from preparation to aftercare.
Hair should be about 1/4 inch long (roughly the length of a grain of rice) for best results. This allows the wax to properly grip the hair for a clean, smooth removal.
There may be some discomfort, especially if it’s your first time, but proper technique and high-quality wax significantly reduce irritation. Most clients find it becomes easier with regular appointments.
Most clients schedule every 4–6 weeks to maintain smooth results and reduce regrowth over time.
Gently exfoliate 24–48 hours before your appointment, avoid lotions or oils on the day of your service, and wear comfortable clothing. Proper prep helps achieve the best results.
Avoid hot showers, workouts, tanning, and tight clothing for 24 hours after your appointment to prevent irritation.
Waxing reduces the risk compared to shaving, but proper aftercare is key. Regular exfoliation and proper skincare help prevent ingrown hairs.
Yes, you can still receive waxing services during your period. You may be slightly more sensitive, so proper timing and comfort measures are recommended.
Waxing removes hair from the root, leading to longer-lasting smoothness, softer regrowth, and less frequent maintenance compared to shaving
Absolutely. If you'd like, you can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) about 30 minutes before your appointment. We recommend avoiding ibuprofen (Advil), aspirin, and other blood-thinning pain relievers, as they can make bruising more likely.
We get it—especially if it's your first wax. For privacy and safety, only you and your wax specialist are allowed in the treatment room during your appointment. If you bring a friend, partner, or support person, they're welcome to relax in the waiting area while we take care of you.
Absolutely. We take pride in being thorough, but occasionally a few stubborn hairs can slip through. If that happens, reach out and we'll get you scheduled for a complimentary touch-up.
Touch-ups must be booked within 7 days of your original appointment and completed by the same wax specialist who performed the service.
In most cases, yes. Many people continue waxing throughout their pregnancy. That said, every pregnancy is different, so we recommend checking with your healthcare provider first if you have any concerns or medical restrictions.
Keep in mind that hormonal changes can make skin more sensitive, so you may find waxing feels a little different than usual.
Nope. Waxing doesn't cause hair to grow back darker, thicker, or faster. In fact, regular waxing often has the opposite effect. Over time, many clients notice their hair becomes finer, softer, and less dense because waxing removes the hair from the root.
Consistency is key. The longer you stick to a regular waxing schedule, the better the long-term results tend to be.
Maybe, but it's important to let your wax specialist know before your appointment. Retin-A, retinol, and similar vitamin A products can make the skin thinner and more sensitive, which increases the risk of lifting or irritation during waxing.
As a general rule, we recommend discontinuing retinol products for at least 5 days before your appointment, though you should always follow your prescribing provider's instructions. If you're using retinol on the area you'd like waxed, we may recommend an alternative service such as tweezing instead.
When in doubt, tell us about any skincare products you're using. We'd much rather adjust the service than risk damaging your skin.
It's completely normal to have some redness, sensitivity, or mild irritation after waxing. For most people, this fades within a few hours, though more sensitive areas, like the bikini or Brazilian area, can stay pink for up to 24 hours.
To help your skin recover, avoid the following for the first 24 hours:
- Hot baths, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms
- Intense workouts that cause heavy sweating
- Tanning and prolonged sun exposure
- Swimming pools and lakes
- Sexual activity after bikini or Brazilian waxing
- Touching the area unnecessarily
Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and your hair follicles are temporarily open, so keeping the area clean and avoiding excess heat, friction, and bacteria will help prevent irritation.
After 48 hours, begin gentle exfoliation 2–3 times per week and moisturize regularly to help prevent ingrown hairs and keep your skin smooth.
If something doesn't seem right or you have questions after your appointment, reach out. We'd rather answer a question early than have you wonder about it at home.
